Princess Margaret Hospital

PMH is a 220 bed internationally recognised paediatric facility.  It is WA’s only specialist children’s hospital, caring for approximately 21,000 inpatients and providing approximately 287,000 occasions of service to outpatients annually.  These children are from all over the state and have a range of illnesses and injuries, from minor complaints to life-threatening illnesses.

Scheduled for opening in 2018, the $1.2 billion Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) will be the new home for staff and services from Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), providing specialist paediatric care for the children and adolescents of Western Australia.

The new hospital will be the sole dedicated children’s hospital for WA, providing the highest level of care to children from all over the state. PCH will have 298 beds, 48 more than PMH and the design of the building allows for future expansion.

All specialist services currently provided by PMH will be available at the new PCH, with many clinical areas expanded including an increase in neonatal and oncology capacity, an expanded Surgical Day Stay Unit and the introduction of a High Dependency Unit alongside the Intensive Care Unit.
