Clinical governance is about ensuring that the quality of care Right at Home provide to clients is continually monitored and reviewed to ensure all services offered are of the highest quality. Clinical governance is the structure through which Right at Home are continuously improving to provide a superior service to our clients. We do this by systematic review of the quality cycle by Assessment, Planning, Implementing and Evaluating

The Clinical Nurse Manager role

Responsibility for over-seeing the company’s Code of Governance

  • Ensure all care services provided are of the highest standards
  • Maintains a need led service by having a person-cantered approach .
  • Provide clinical guidance & support to managers and staff of Right at Home franchise offices nation wide
  • Ensure continuous development of services and quality of delivery
  • Co-ordinate audits
  • Ensure that clinical guidelines are effective and current
  • Identify quality gaps and provide training etc.

 

Leadership and People :

  • To ensure good working relationships are maintained and be a point of contact between other health care professionals and statutory organisations
  • Identify skill gaps in the field and resolve as necessary
  • Ownership for all policies relating to care of the clients. You will be responsible to ensure that all our policies are in line with HSE regulation and best practice in within the industry standards
  • Provide training to staff to ensure the highest standard provision of care
  • To manage and implement change related to clinical practices efficiently in consultation with all relevant stakeholders
  • Advise and inform staff of their role within the clinical governance structure.
  • Provide relevant training and support to managers and staff of Right at Home franchise offices nationally
  • Support integrated service delivery between all stakeholders
  • Present recommendations for service delivery when identified
  • Conduct assessments of client care as required
  • Review care plans as required

 

Quality Management:

  • Undertake monthly quality assessment audits to ensure a continuous quality service is provided
  • Manage and review all aspects of care with appropriate people i.e. Care manager, team leaders, supervisors and carers
  • Constantly review clinical need of all case loads
  • All care standards’ policies and procedures are reviewed and updated using research and evidence-based practice.
  • Undertake regular clinical audit and oversee any aspect of clinical audit non-conformities
  • Undertake regular service user audits and act on feedback from them or those acting on their behalf. This will ensure that the service is continually evaluated which will drive forward service excellence
  • Participate in both internal and external audits and maintain company’s ISO standard 9001:2015
  • Oversee clinical complaints and resolution of same
  • Continuously monitor activities against quality standards
  • Assess and manage risks to quality
  • Support Right at Home franchise offices nationally in ensuring that comprehensive quality management systems are in place and adhered to

Management:

  • Attend management meetings and contribute to the agenda
  • Chairing of quality management meetings
  • Manage and maintain appropriate records and personal information in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and to the company’s standards as per their Information Governance
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures related to the running of the company are adhered to
  • Assist and support management of Right at Home franchise offices nationally
  • To represent the company where necessary at events and meetings
  • Provide the company with clinical governance oversight
  • Ensure Right at Home are in full compliance with all clinical legal requirements

 

Partnership Working:

  • Maintain close contact with service users and their families where appropriate
  • Maintain close working relationships with all relevant stakeholders both statutory and voluntary e.g. Health Service Executive, Primary Care Teams, Meals on Wheels, Advocacy groups, local day care centres.
  • Work closely with other Right at Home franchise offices nationally

General Requirements:

  • To undertake ongoing professional development
  • To uphold the ethos and values of the company
  • To undertake such duties and responsibilities reasonably consistent with the role as maybe required from time to time by the operations manager
  • Be fluent in the English language both written and verbal
  • Be computer literate
  • Car owner
  • Hold full driving license
  • Be flexible in terms of location of work and hours / days
  • Undertake home visits where deemed necessary
  • Travel across sites
  • May be required to work outside core hours

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing and Midwifery board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Candidates must be a registered General Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience
  • Have appropriate management experience at CNM 2 level or above
  • Management Qualification desirable
  • Knowledge of National Standards for Safer and Better Healthcare (Health and Quality Authority) Health Act 2007
  • Experience of care of older persons
  • Knowledge of other relevant legislation i.e. Children First, Protection of the Vulnerable Adult
